New page: Hold a cogen. A cogen is a small, regular conversation where the people in a room work out how to change it. The name and the practice are Christopher Emdin's, from For White Folks Who Teach in the Hood... and the Rest of Y'all Too, and the page quotes him in his own words, with the page each quotation is on. It keeps his three rules and widens two of them: a laid card counts as much as a spoken word, and nobody has to take the mic. Then it walks through before, during, the plan and after. Every line of the plan is about the room, never a person, and nothing is counted. Why cogens and Cavendish Space fit, and where they part, is on stimpunks.org: Cogens and Cavendish Space: A Crosswalk. The page sits in the menu under The deck in use, just before Group access needs, which turns the spreads a cogen produces into one brief for the room.

A quotation keeps its shape now. The site's Markdown renderer could only set a quotation as one paragraph, so a quoted list ran together into a single line. Quotes can now hold paragraphs and lists, and the source line under a quote is set beside it as a caption, not inside it — the quotation is the writer's words, and the credit is ours. Every quote already on the site renders exactly as before.

Every page now says what CC0 does not cover. The footer reads "Free to use, print, and adapt under CC0 1.0. Quoted material belongs to whoever wrote it — quoted, not given away." Our own words are still dedicated to the public domain, with no permission needed and no credit required. Another writer's words never were ours to give away. We are making room to quote them: a few lines, under fair use, with the writer, the work and the page named beside the words. A quotation lets you check our reading instead of trusting it, which a paraphrase with a name beside it cannot do. The same sentence now sits beside CC0 everywhere the site states it: the Markdown version of every page (/why.md, and so on), llms.txt, robots.txt, the feed and the README. The wording is the one whysheet.press uses, so both presses say it the same way.

The footer's license line now comes from one place. Three of the five hand-written pages carried it in two different wordings, and the threshold and the model page had none in their footers. All five now print the same line the generated pages do, from the build. A build check warns if any published file says CC0 without the exception — and its first run found one we had missed.
